Er ist \u00fcber 500 Quadratkilometer gro\u00df und damit auf Anhieb gar nicht so leicht zu \u00fcberblicken. Die Anfahrt erfolgt zun\u00e4chst \u00fcber den Monash (M1) und anschlie\u00dfend den Gippsland Freeway (M420\/A440) bis hin zur Ortschaft Meeniyan. Dort fahrt ihr auf die Meeniyan Promontory Road (C444) bis zum Eingang des Wilsons Promontory Nationalparks. Selbst im Sommer kann es empfindlich kalt werden. Wir hatten sogar eine Sturmwarnung und zwischendurch Temperaturen um die zehn Grad \u2013 Badehosenwetter sieht anders aus.<\/p>\n<p>Nehmt dementsprechend warme Kleidung und Schuhwerk f\u00fcr jedes Wetter mit, damit ihr keine unsch\u00f6ne \u00dcberraschung erlebt.<\/p>\n<p>Es empfiehlt sich au\u00dferdem, euren Camper auf dem Weg Richtung Wilsons Promontory noch einmal vollzutanken, da es keine Tankstelle im Nationalpark gibt. Dar\u00fcber hinaus ist die Stromversorgung auf den Campgrounds nur m\u00e4\u00dfig ausgebaut. Wenn ihr einen Stellplatz im Park ergattern wollt, solltet ihr rechtzeitig reservieren &#8211; insbesondere wenn ihr Strom f\u00fcr den Camper und euer Equipment ben\u00f6tigt. An einigen Stellen im Park ist auch Wildcamping erlaubt. Informiert euch diesbez\u00fcglich im Vorfeld und stellt euren Camper nicht einfach irgendwo im Nationalpark ab.<\/p>\n<p>Im Gegensatz zum normalen Durchschnittscamper hatten mein Kumpel Ronny und ich nat\u00fcrlich ein bisschen mehr technisches Equipment dabei und entschieden uns bereits vor unserer Australien Reise, den Tidal River Campground zu buchen. Der Platz liegt direkt im Besucher-Mittelpunkt des Nationalparks und gleichnamigen Ort Tidal River (\u00fcbrigens die einzige Ortschaft im ganzen Park). Er verf\u00fcgt \u00fcber 484 Stellpl\u00e4tze und ist dementsprechend vergleichsweise gro\u00df.<\/p>\n<p>Unser Platz am Tidal River lag sehr sch\u00f6n unter knochigen B\u00e4umen. Trotzt der Gr\u00f6\u00dfe des Campingplatzes fand ich alles sauber und gut organisiert. Zu den beliebtesten Strecken geh\u00f6rt sicher die Tour zum Squeaky Beach. Da es sich bei der Wanderung eher um einen gem\u00fctlichen Spaziergang handelt, eignet sie sich auch f\u00fcr Personen, die nicht so gut zu Fu\u00df unterwegs sind.<\/p>\n<p>Der Weg startet am Informationszentrum des Tidal Rivers und f\u00fchrt auf einem Holzsteg durch den sumpfigen Myrtenheidewald zum Fluss. Dort \u00fcberquert ihr die Fu\u00dfg\u00e4ngerbr\u00fccke und k\u00f6nnt einen Abstecher zum sogenannten Pillar Point machen. Hier habt ihr einen sch\u00f6nen Ausblick auf die Norman Bay. Zur\u00fcck auf der Br\u00fccke folgt ihr dem Squeaky-Beach-Track und \u00fcberquert die Landzunge zwischen Norman Bay und Leonard Bay. Anschlie\u00dfend geht es auch schon hinunter zum Squeaky Beach.<\/p>\n<p>Den lustigen Namen verdankt der Strand \u00fcbrigens seinem sehr feink\u00f6rnigen Quarzsand, der beim Laufen unter den Walk.<\/p>\n<p>Der circa sechs Kilometer lange Rundweg f\u00fchrt euch durch einen Eukalyptus-Wald, vorbei an Heideland und durch einen feucht-warmen Regenwald.<\/p>\n<p>Ihr startet am Parkplatz von Lilly Pilly und \u00fcberquert als erstes die Br\u00fccke \u00fcber dem Tidal River. Dieser Weg ist mit dem Lilly Pilly Gully Nature Walk verbunden, dem ihr anschlie\u00dfend einfach nur entspannt folgen m\u00fcsst.<\/p>\n<p>Der Lilly Pilly Gully Walk ist vor allem f\u00fcr seine artenreiche Tierwelt bekannt. Ihr entdeckt hier mit etwas Gl\u00fcck K\u00e4ngurus, Wallabys, Emus oder Wombats. F\u00fcr uns stellte die Tour jedoch keine gro\u00dfe Herausforderung dar, sodass sie sicherlich auch von unge\u00fcbteren Wanderern mit etwas Anstrengung bew\u00e4ltigt werden kann. Festes Schuhwerk ist aber in jeden Fall Pflicht.<\/p>\n<p>Der Einstieg in die Wanderung befindet sich am Telegraph-Saddle-Parkplatz. Zu Beginn der Route ist der Weg sehr breit und gut ausgebaut. Je weiter es nach oben geht, desto enger wird auch der Pfad.<\/p>\n<p>Ihr m\u00fcsst \u00fcber Felsen und steinige Treppen steigen, um zum Gipfel zu gelangen. Der 360-Grad-Blick auf dem Berg entsch\u00e4digt aber f\u00fcr alle M\u00fchen beim Aufstieg.<\/p>\n<p>Auf dem Mount Oberon ist es sehr windig und h\u00e4ufig auch k\u00fchl. Eine winddichte und w\u00e4rmende Jacke geh\u00f6rt dementsprechend unbedingt in den Wanderrucksack.<\/p>\n<p>Eigentlich wollten wir auf dem Gipfel den Sonnenuntergang genie\u00dfen, wetterbedingt hat das leider nicht ganz so gut geklappt. Manchmal kann Mann eben nicht alles haben und die Tour ist auch ohne Sonne ein Erlebnis.<\/p>\n<p>Da wir in der D\u00e4mmerung unterwegs waren, hatten wir f\u00fcr den R\u00fcckweg zum Camp unsere Stirnlampen dabei. So haben wir den Wanderweg problemlos gefunden und sind weder \u00fcber Wurzeln noch Steine gestolpert.<\/p>\n<p>Neben den hier aufgelisteten Wanderungen k\u00f6nnt ihr auch im Norden des Parks viele spannende Routen entdecken.
